Adam Anderson Pairman was born 13th November 1891 at Montrose, Scotland and was the son of James Christie. and Margaret Carnegie Pairman, of 11, White's Place, Montrose.
The 1901 Census shows the family living at 9 Whyte’s Place, Montrose. His father, James, is aged 46, born in Montrose in 1855 is a baker, his mother, Margaret, is aged 43, born 1858, she was also born in Montrose as where their children. At the time of the Census they have six children living with them: Jessie aged 16, born 1885 and Maggie aged 15, born 1886 are both linen weavers, James aged 13, born 1888, Adam aged 9, born 1892 and William aged 6, born 1895 are scholars and Charles is aged 3, born 1898.
Adam enlisted in Dundee and was formerly 865, Army Cyclist Corps and following a transfer was serving in the 18th Battalion, The King’s Liverpool Regiment as Private No 57563 when he died of wounds at Oldmill Hospital, Aberdeen on the 2nd September, 1917 aged 25 suffered during the Third Battle of Ypres.
He now lies in the family grave at Montrose (Rosehill) Cemetery, Scotland.

His being wounded was reported in the Montrose Standard on the 20th April 1917:
PRIVATE A. PAIRMAN - WOUNDED
Mr James Pairman, White's Place, Montrose, has been notified that his son Private Adam Pairman, King's Own Liverpool(sic), has been wounded. Private Pairman, who served his time as an ironmonger with Mr R.M. Hird, Montrose, was subsequently employed by Mr Phin, Dundee, before enlisting.
His death was reported in the Montrose Standard on the 07th September 1917:
PRIVATE A. A. PAIRMAN - DIED OF WOUNDS
The death occurred on Sunday in the Scottish General Hospital, Aberdeen, from wounds received in action on April 9, of Private Adam A. Pairman, 18th King's Liverpool's, second son of Mr J.C. Pairman, 11 White's Place, Montrose, who enlisted in November 1915, went to France in December of the following year, and had undergone several operations for wounds to his right arm. He was 25 years of age and served his time as ironmonger with Mr R.M. Hird, Montrose, subsequently entering the service of Mr Phinn, Dundee.

LOCAL AND GENERAL NOTES
Montrose's sacrifices in the Great War continue to increase, and last week four sons of the burg were reported either to have fallen in action, or to have died of wounds. After five months' treatment for wounds received in action in April, Private Adam A. Pairman, King's Liverpool's, has succumbed in an Aberdeen hospital.

MONTROSE'S TRIBUTE TO DEAD HEROES
The graves of soldiers interned in Rosehill and Sleepyhillock Cemeteries, Montrose where on Friday(Annes Day) visited today by a number of the the ministers in town, and a large attendance of the public, when tribute was paid to the memory of the gallant men who had died while on service for King and Country, or subsequent to their discharge from the the forces. The service was a most impressive one, prayers being offered at Rosehill Cemetery. The Rev. James Hay, Trinity U.F. Church read the names on each grave as it was visited, and quoted an appropriate scripture passage, while floral tributes were laid upon the graves by ladies representative of the various congregations in town. At Sleepyhillock Cemetery the service was concluded with the singing of Psalm 23 and paraphrase 2, the large assemblage joining reverently in these renderings.
