Maurice Jules Palmer was born in 1891 the eldest son of John Peter and Emma Palmer.

The Census of 1911 finds the family living at  23 Stanley Street, Garston.

Both parents are alive and his father is shown as a Timber Gager for a Railway Company, he was born in Guernsey. His mother Emma was born in France. They have been married for 28 years and have had 13 children born and 12 of them were still living. Maurice is now aged 20 and is employed as a Gentleman's hairdresser. He has four younger brothers and 3 younger sisters, they are: Charles, Albert, Andre, Madeiline, Anna, Henri and Lucie. The children including Maurice are shown as France, Resident but British subject by parentage.      

He enlisted in the 20th Battalion of The King's Liverpool Regiment as Private 22804. He had reached the rank of Corporal when he was discharged from the Army on 06/10/1916 due to sickness, and was granted a Siver War Badge No. 96729 which was issued on 22/12/1916.

Maurice died on 12/05/1917 and rests at Allerton Cemetery in Liverpool at XIV.C.E.77.
