Percy Croysdale Cleminson was born on 01st August 1886 at Bishop Auckland and was baptised 03rd September 1886. He was the son of  Michael Cleminson and his wife Mary (nee Clroysdale).

The 1891 Census shows him as Percival, aged 4 living at Victoria Street, Bishop Auckland with his father, two siblings and two servants. His father s recorded as a 42 year old cabinet maker, born in Shildon, Durham whilst his siblings are shown as Nellie aged 7 and Charles aged 1.   

His father died 0n 24th March 1900, aged 51.

The 1901 Census shows the family living at 6, Victoria Street, Bishop Auckland, Durham. His mother Mary is a widow aged 40, born 1861 in Killington, Yorkshire with no occupation listed. At the time of the Census, she has four children, Percy aged 14 , Charlie aged 11, born 1890, Doris aged 4, born 1897 and Frank aged 1, born 1900. She also has Lizzie Moore aged 17, born 1884 a general domestic servant living at the address. 

Prior to the war he resided in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He enllisted at Carlisle and originally served as Private 25007 Border Regiment before he was transferred to the 19th Battalion of The King's Liverpool Regiment as Private 59030.

Percy died on 17th May 1917 aged 31 at the Royal Herbert Hospital, Shooters Hill, Woolwich, of tuberculosis. 

He now rests at Bishop Auckland Cemetery, County Durham (A. Sub. 2. 58.).

There are now 40 burials of the First World War in the Cemetery. 

Details contained in a notice of the removal of graves in Bishop Auckland reveals that his mother died on the same day as Percy:-

Michael Cleminson died March 24th 1900 aged 51 years

Frank Nolan son of the above January 4th 1900 died September 24th 1906

Percy Croysdale Cleminson eldest son of the above born August 1st 1886 died May 17th 1917

Mary wife of above Michael Cleminson died May 17th 1917 cremated at Harrogate

Charles Ernest Cleminson son of above died May 25th 1953 aged 65 years cremated at Golders Green

Probate:

Cleminson Percy Croysdale of Bishop Auckland, County Durham, died 17 May 1917 at Royal Herbert Hospital, Shooters Hill, Woolwich, Kent, on active service. Administration Durham, 8 July to Charles Ernest Cleminson, furniture dealer. Effects £2007 6s.   

His effects also went to his brother Charles Ernest Cleminson.
