Also living at the property is Jenny Grant Kirby aged 30, born 1881 in Liverpool and she is employed as a domestic general servant.

Sydney enlisted at St George's Hall, Liverpool on 02nd September 1914 joining the 18th Battalion of The King's Liverpool Regiment as Private 16539. He gave his age as 19 years and 3 days and declared his occupation as a clerk. He lied about his age, as at the time of enlistement he was 18. He was living with his mother at 148 Queens Road, Everton. He advised that had two brothers and two sisters. His attestation papers show he was 5 feet 6 and a half inches tall and weighed 122lbs. From the 23rd September 1914 he was billeted at Hooton Park Race Course and remained there until 03rd December 1914 when they moved into the hutted accommodation at Lord Derby’s estate at Knowsley Hall. A French Military Cemetery close to it, also named from the ravine, has now been removed. The cemetery was begun by the 13th King's Royal Rifles in February, 1916, and used by units holding this front until March, 1917; one further burial took place in September, 1917. There are now over 60, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Two brothers are buried in Row C, graves 6 and 7.
